Lahore, 13 October 2025: The second day of the second round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26 produced five centuries and two five-fors in the five fixtures across Abbottabad, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.
Saad Baig struck his maiden first-class century (154, 196b, 21x4s, 1x6) and put on a mammoth 262-run second-wicket partnership with Omair bin Yousuf (137, 198b, 16x4s, 1x6) as Karachi Blues gained a 173-run first innings lead over Multan at the Marghzar Cricket Ground in Islamabad. Omair scored his 13th first-class century.
Multan’s Faisal Akram – who bagged his fifth first-class five-for – removed both centurions as Blues slid from 321-2 to 433 all out. Faisal finished with figures of 20-2-113-5, while Arafat Minhas and Kashif Ali dismissed two batters each. In turn, Multan were 12 for no loss in three overs at stumps.
At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur finished the day with 124-3 in 38.3 overs, trailing Islamabad by another 417 runs. Earlier, Islamabad declared their first innings at 541-6 in 137.3 overs after resuming from 344-5 overnight.
Mohammad Hammad – who turned his 80 not out to 144 off 214 balls hitting 19 fours - along with wicketkeeper-batter Rizwan Ali (101 not out, 159b, 8x4s, 2x6s) put on 199 runs for the sixth wicket for Islamabad.
Lahore Whites’ Ali Zaryab struck his ninth first-class century (106 not out, 176b, 12x4s, 1x6) to take Lahore Whites to 232-2 in 59 overs in reply to Abbottabad’s first innings score of 365 all out at the Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad.
Ali stitched a 72-run opening stand with Abid Ali (41, 61b, 8x4s) and then an unbeaten 145-run third-wicket partnership with Hussain Talat (68, 106b, 10x4s) as Lahore Whites closed in on Abbottabad’s first innings total.
Earlier, Abbottabad stretched their overnight score of 273-7 in 83 overs to 365 all out in 109.2 overs with the help of a half-century from no.8 batter Khalid Usman (78, 115b, 8x4s, 3x6s), who added 74 runs with Israr Hussain (29, 57b, 2x4s, 3x6s) for the 10th wicket. Mohammad Rameez Jnr finished with six wickets in his 37.2 overs.
Peshawar lead FATA by 19 runs with nine wickets in hand in their second innings as they were 59-1 in 19 overs when the stumps were drawn at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.
Earlier, FATA were dismissed for 311 in 68.2 overs as they managed a slender 40-run first innings lead after resuming from 60-0 on day two. Opening batter Mohammad Farooq top-scored with a brisk 65-ball 90 hitting 15 fours and three sixes as FATA slid from 215-3 to 311.
Sialkot’s pacer Mohammad Ali picked up his 11th first-class five-for (25-8-47-5) as they dismissed Faisalabad for 255 in 89.5 overs at the Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar. Faisalabad could only add 52 runs to their overnight score losing the remaining five wickets.
In turn, Sialkot scored 189-5 in 55 overs by close of play – 66 behind Faisalabad – with the help of half-century from opening batter Azan Awais (65, 101b, 8x4s, 1x6).
