Karachi, 20 May 2025: Stars’ Tuba Hassan (2-24 & 26) and Challengers’ Sadaf Shamas (53) were the stand out performers in the 10th round of the National Women’s T20 Tournament 2024-25 as the two teams bagged crucial wins on Tuesday afternoon at two venues in Karachi.

Conquerors, Stars and Challengers all finished with 10 points each, while Conquerors sat atop with a better net run-rate than the other two teams and qualified for the final directly. Sidra Amin’s Stars and Rameen Shamim’s Challengers will play the Qualifier on Thursday, 22 May at the National Bank Stadium.

In the 19th match, Challengers posted 168-7 in 20 overs courtesy Sadaf’s half-century after being asked to bat first by Strikers. In turn, Strikers, who finished with six points, needed to chase the target in 18.3 overs to knockout Challengers but were dismissed for a mere 19 in 19.5 overs.

For Strikers, Eyman Fatima (34, 17b, 6x4s, 1x6) and Noreen Yaqoob (22, 13b, 4x4s) were the only batters who reached double figures. The duo put on 46 runs for the second wicket after skipper Gull Feroza fell for a two-ball duck to Tasmia Rubab.

Challengers’ bowling was so potent that they bagged the last nine Strikers scalps for 45 runs with Rabia Rani returning outstanding figures of 3-1 including three maidens in her four overs. Apart from getting rid of opposition skipper early, Tasmia also dismissed Eyman to stem run flow.

Earlier, Sadaf and Yusra Amir (39, 32b, 8x4s) took their team from 15-1 to 102-2 with a solid 87-run stand as Shawaal Zulfiqar fell early for eight. No.4 batter Natalia Parvaiz (16, 14b) and Aliya Riaz (22, 13b, 4x4s) kept the scorecard ticking after Challengers were 112-3. Gull Rukh’s solitary six in an unbeaten 11-ball 17 pushed Challengers past 150-run mark.

Noreen Yaqoob picked up three wickets for Strikers in her four overs.

In the 20th match, Conquerors went down by five wickets against Stars but still managed to finish at the top with a net run-rate of 0.793, whereas Stars accumulated 0.493. Conquerors’ 119-7 in 20 overs, was hunted down in 17.4 overs by the Stars.

Huraina Sajjad, who struck six fours in her quickfire 23-ball 38, in partnership with Sana Urooj (20, 16b, 4x4s) provided Stars a 43-run stand at the top before they slid to 67-3. Player of the match Tuba anchored the chase with a 25-ball 26 including two fours as Stars chased the target with 14 balls to spare.

Nashra Sundhu picked up 2-21 in her four overs.

Earlier, Conquerors were helped to a fighting total by Syed Aroob Shah and Najiha Alvi, who joined forces for a 74-run fifth-wicket stand, after their team was left reeling at 36-4 with Saira Jabeen, Hafsa Khalid departing for ducks and Fatima Sana only scoring four.

Najiha remained unbeaten for 43 off 47 balls hitting two fours, while Aroob hit four fours and two sixes in her 46 off 35 balls. For Stars, Anosha Nasir and Tuba picked up two wickets each.
