Second XI Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Northern, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa win their matches

Karachi, 30 October 2020: Northern beat Sindh by 115 runs and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa overhauled a 162-run target in 37.2 overs against Southern Punjab on the final day of the third round of the three-day non first-class Second XI Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

After being enforced to follow-on on Thursday, Central Punjab secured a draw against Balochistan at the TMC Ground.

Balochistan v Central Punjab, TMC Ground, Karachi:

A Century by Imran Dogar and half-centuries by wicketkeeper-batsman Farhan Khan and Mohammad Irfan Khan helped Central Punjab to secure a draw after being forced to follow-on.

With an 89-run trail and eight wickets in hand, Central Punjab resumed the final day of the three-day contest at 127 for two. Imran Dogar added 28 runs to his overnight score as he made 102. His 178-ball vigil was studded with seven fours and two sixes.

Farhan (50) and Irfan (70) kept the Balochistan bowlers from making any further inroads, before Atizaz Habib Khan (33) and Bilawal Iqbal (23 not out) saw Central Punjab through the day.

Central Punjab were 349 for seven in 115 overs when stumps were drawn.

Northern v Sindh, State Bank Stadium, Karachi:

Sindh suffered a 115-run defeat against Northern as they were bowled out for 117 in 34.4 overs on the final day of the three-day fixture.

With 75 off 47 balls, which included six sixes and six fours, opener Azam Khan was the top-scorer for Sindh, while Danish Aziz was the other notable run-getter as he made 45 off 63. Northern’s Aamer Jamal and Shadab Majeed took three wickets each, while Ziad Khan returned two for 12.

After starting the day at 130 for six, Northern made 249 for seven to set 233-run target. Aamer Jamal recorded a century after resuming on 30. He struck 11 fours and three sixes on his way to an unbeaten 100 off 132. His overnight partner, Kashif Iqbal added four runs to his tally before getting dismissed by Ghulam Mudassar (3-37) on 59.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa v Southern Punjab, KCCA Stadium, Karachi:

Half-centuries by Musadiq Ahmed and Mohammad Naeem Snr set an eight-wicket win for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over Southern Punjab.

Musadiq smashed 10 fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 82 off 105, while Naeem scored 57 from 76 balls. Both batsmen stitched a 117-run second wicket stand after Mohammad Mohsin Khan was dismissed by Ali Usman (2-57) with 17 runs on board.

Their partnership helped Khyber Pakhtunkhwa overhaul 162-run target in 37.2 overs with eight wickets spare.
