Warner and Labuschagne's second wicket partnership gives Australia control

Lahore, 29 November 2019: David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne’s unbroken second wicket partnership of 294 runs gave Australia firm control on day-one of the second Test against Pakistan being played at the Adelaide Oval on Friday.

Australia won the toss and opted to bat first in the day-night ICC World Test Championship fixture. Pakistan made an early breakthrough when left-armer Shaheen Shah Afridi accounted for Joe Burns (4), the right-handed opener was caught behind by Mohammad Rizwan.

Pakistan’s search for the second wicket then continued for the rest of the day as Warner and Labuschagne dominated the bowling in their stroke-filled partnership.

The left-handed Warner reached his 100 off 156 balls with the help of 12 fours. Labuschagne reached the three-figure mark off 169 balls with the help of 14 fours.

The pair took full advantage of the batting friendly conditions and piled on the runs in the final session of play.

Only 73 overs were bowled in the day due to rain interruptions, Australia finished the day placed at a formidable position of 302 for one in 73 overs.

Warner was unbeaten on 166 while Labuschagne was batting on 126 when stumps were drawn for the day.
