Women's U19: Half-centuries from Shawal, Aroob set Central Punjab-Sindh final

Muridke, 20 August 2022: Top performances by captains of Central Punjab and Sindh in their respective semi-finals secure both the sides berths in the final of the inaugural Women U19 T20 Tournament. The two teams will face-off on Monday at the Lahore Country Club in Muridke.

Shawal’s unbeaten 86 leads Central Punjab to 102 runs win over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Central Punjab captain Shawal Zulfiqar continued her impressive form with the bat and smashed a 64-ball 86 – which included 11 fours – as Central Punjab put 170 for three after winning the toss.

She provided a solid 63-run opening stand with Eyman Fatima (30 off 21).

Shawal was later awarded player of the match award and she is the leading run-getter in the tournament with 161 runs and has been dismissed only once in the tournament.

Noor Fatima and Laiba Nasir shared six wickets equally between them and Rida Aslam accounted for two batters as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa perished for mere 68 with two balls spare.

With 14 off 36, Hansa Zair Gul was the top run getter in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s innings.

Aroob shines with 64 not out as Sindh chase 89 with ease

Sindh captain Aroob Shah made 64 off 39. She first saved her side from a top-order collapse then rebuilt the innings and eventually took Sindh across the line in just 17.3 overs.

Aroob smashed seven fours and three sixes in her 39-ball knock and is the second highest run-getter behind her Central Punjab counterpart.

Earlier, Southern Punjab managed only 88 for four in 20 overs with Aqsa Hafeez top-scoring with 58-ball 32 not out. Haniah Ahmer was the pick of the bowlers with 2-18.
