Zaman Khan, Aamir Jamal bag five-fors on opening day of third round

Lahore, 11 September 2025: The third round of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy began with 12 teams taking on each other in four cities across the country. Group A fixtures saw two five-fors and two centuries, while the three Group B fixtures were washed out.

Group A

Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Zaman Khan wreaked havoc with the ball against Lahore Blues as he returned figures of 7-0-17-5 to skittle them for 71 all out in 21.5 overs at the Dring Stadium, Bahawalpur.

In turn, Lahore Blues’ Aamir Jamal struck blow after blow to bag 5-34 in 12 overs as AJK managed a 90-run lead, finishing the day with 161-8 in 52 overs.

At the Multan Cricket Stadium, Faisalabad’s Abdul Samad struck his second century in the tournament as he finished the day unbeaten on 103 off 206 balls hitting nine fours in his team’s total of 253-5 in 84 overs against Karachi Whites.

Mohammad Suleman’s unbeaten 157 led Hyderabad to 283-7 in 85 overs at stumps against Quetta at the Abbasia Sports Complex in Rahim Yar Khan. Suleman struck 21 fours and one six off the 234 balls he faced.

Left-hand batter Daniyal Hussain contributed with a crucial half-century (59, 139b, 8x4s) in a resistive 135-run stand with Suleman after Hyderabad had slumped to 36-5. For Quetta, Mohammad Ibrahim was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-82 in 24 overs.

Opening day of the all three Group B fixtures was washed out in Karachi.
