Lahore, 27 October 2022: Pakistan women’s captain Bismah Maroof scored a century in an intra-squad match here at the LCCA Ground, Lahore on Thursday. Pakistan women’s ODI and T20I squads are undergoing a four-day pre-series camp for Ireland series in Lahore. Ireland are due to arrive in Lahore later this week.

In a 45-over intra-squad match, Bismah Maroof-led Pakistan Whites while batting first scored 223 for nine against PCB Blues. The left-handed Bismah – who came as an opening batter, top-scored with a 116-ball 102, which included 13 fours. Omaima Sohail – who bagged 10 wickets – also the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded ACC T20 Asia Cup 2022 was the other run getter with 25 off 29 balls.

Nida Dar, captain of Pakistan Blues grabbed three wickets for 31 from eight overs. Uncapped Umm-e-Hani with her off-spin bowling took two wickets.

Commenting on her innings, Bismah said, “It was a good practice game for us as we have been playing T20 format lately. The practice game will help us to acclimatise to the longer format as we have to play three ODI matches first against Ireland.

“I am personally satisfied with my today’s performance, the innings helped me spent time in the middle which will help me to prepare myself for the upcoming series.”

In return, to make match more competitive, the target was revised to 190 in 37 overs. PCB Blues opening batters Javeria Khan and Sidra Amin provided a solid 103-run start to the innings. The right-handed Javeria top-scored with a 65-ball 51, smashing five fours. Sidra scored 40 off 69, hitting four boundaries.

That the Blues’ were able to chase down the target with four balls remaining was largely due to an unbroken 84-run partnership between Aliya Riaz and Ayesha Naseem. Ayesha struck two sixes and three fours during her unbeaten 31-ball 40. Aliya scored 34 off 37, which included four fours and a six.

The players will rest tomorrow and will play another intra-squad match on Saturday at the LCCA Ground.
