Central Punjab beat Southern Punjab by 10 wickets

Lahore, 20 October 2021: Central Punjab registered their second successive win of the Cricket Associations Championship 2021-22 as they defeated Southern Punjab by 10 wickets on the third and final day of the round five fixture at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Resuming their second innings on 106 for four, Southern Punjab were bowled out for 281 with Central Punjab requiring 56 runs to win the match.

Southern Punjab’s Mohammad Umair top-scored with 85 off 159, hitting 12 fours, while Hamayun Altaf contributed 82 off 195, laced with 10 fours and one six.

The pair knitted 123 runs for the fifth-wicket.

For Central Punjab, Mohammad Ali picked five wickets for 64 and ended up taking nine for 101. Nisar Ahmad who took five wickets in the first innings grabbed two for 65 in the second innings.

Central Punjab chased down the target in the sixth over without losing any wicket.

Northern and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa played out a drawn game at the Rana Naved ul Hasan Cricket Academy in Sheikhupura. Resuming their second innings with a deficit of 286 runs, Northern managed to score 292 for seven in 81 overs when stumps were drawn.

Abdul Faseeh (67 off 140 balls, nine fours) and Sarmad Hameed (66 off 84 balls, 11 fours) contributed 115 runs for the third-wicket. Kashif Iqbal scored 51 off 86 balls, hitting four fours, while wicketkeeper-batter and captain Jamal Anwar was other notable run-getter with a 54-ball 42 which included five fours and one six.

For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Maaz Khan picked four for 105, while Ihsan Ullah grabbed three for 44. Maaz – right-arm leg-spinner ended up with nine for 155 in the match.

Over at the Saeed Ajmal Academy Ground in Faisalabad, captain’s innings from Azeem Ghumman helped Balochistan draw with Sindh. Resuming their second innings on the overnight score of 101 for one, Balochistan were bowled out for 306 in the 121st over.

Opening batter Azeem top-scored with a 217-ball 108, laced with 14 fours. Shahbaz Khan coming to bat at number five contributed 87 off 177 balls, which included nine fours.

For Sindh, Arish Ali Khan and Junaid Ilyas picked three wickets each.

Chasing 115 runs to win, Sindh were 35 for two when stumps were drawn.
