Imran hits century, Sajid and Zohaib take five wickets

Lahore, 8 October 2021: The third round matches of the Cricket Association Championship (Second XI teams) got underway today in three Punjab venues.

Over at the Rana Naved-ul-Hasan Cricket Academy, Sheikhupura, Central Punjab posted a formidable 418-run total against Balochistan in their first innings. The highlight of their batting performance was a 140-ball 143 by opener Imran Dogar who hit 22 fours and one six in his innings. Rizwan Hussain, Tabraiz Butt and Ali Shan hit half-centuries. Tariq Jameel and Hayatullah took three wickets apiece.

Balochistan were 15 for one in 4.2 overs when stumps were drawn for the day.

Over at the LCCA Ground Lahore, Northern posted 368 for seven in their 83-over first innings after winning the toss and opting to bat. Abdul Faseeh top-scored with 82 laced with 11 fours. Sarmad Hameed, Muhammad Huraira, Faizan Riaz and skipper Umar Waheed scored half-centuries. Ghulam Mudassar took three wickets.

Sindh had a poor start to their first innings in reply as they had ended the first day at five for three with Kashif Iqbal taking two wickets.

Over at the Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad, Southern Punjab who had opted to bat were bowled out for 202 in 64.2 overs in their first innings. Opener Waqar Hussain top-scored with 84 off 149 balls (seven fours, one six). Spinners Sajid Khan and Zohaib Khan took five wickets each for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ended the day at 101 for two in 29 overs. Waqar Ahmed scored 43 runs, Ali Usman took the two wickets to fall.
