Sharoon, Moinuddin and Junaid hit centuries, Ashiq and Raza shine with the ball

Lahore, 13 October 2021: The fourth-round of the Cricket Associations Championship 2021-22 got underway in three Punjab venues today.

For Southern Punjab Sharoon Siraj and Moinuddin and for Central Punjab Junaid Ali scored centuries. Sindh off-spinner Ashiq Ali and Northern left-arm-spinner Raza Hasan took five and six wickets.

Over at the Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan Academy Sheikhupura, Southern Punjab amassed 452 for four in their first innings. Opener Sharon Siraj and captain Moinuddin scored centuries for Southern Punjab. Sharoon who scored 171 off 191 balls hit 31 fours in his innings. He added 187 for the second-wicket with Yousuf Babar who contributed 71.

Sharoon then added 127 runs for the third-wicket with Moinuddin who hit a scintillating 126 off 84 balls (20 fours, two sixes). Mohammad Umair scored a breezy 57 (51) as Southern Punjab batters completed a fully dominant performance with the bat.

At stumps on day-one, Balochistan finished at 20 for no loss.

Over at the Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were bowled out for 257 in their first innings against Sindh. Captain and opener Waqar Ahmed top-scored with 51 off 76 balls (nine fours, one six). Zohaib Khan scored 49 runs.

Off-spinner Ashiq Ali took five wickets for 98 runs in 33.2 overs while left-arm-spinner Mohammad Asghar took two wickets.

At close of play, Sindh were 46 for no loss in their first innings.

Over at the Saeed Ajmal Academy Ground Faisalabad, Central Punjab posted 371 for eight in their allocated 83 overs. Opener Junaid Ali top-scored with 129 off 194 balls (19 fours). Ali Zaryab and Rizwan Hussain contributed half-centuries. Left-arm-spinner Raza Hasan took six wickets for 155 runs in 36 overs.

At close of play, Northern were 14 for one.
